Today the Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton T.D. announced the appointment of Taylor McCarney Architects in association with Henry J Lyons and Mullarkey Pedersen as the architects for five major third level educational projects as part of a Public Private Partnership (PPP). The projects are part of the Higher Education PPP Programme Bundle 2 and include the following:
The GMIT project involves construction of a new 5,500 sqm STEM building, which would include labs, multi-purpose rooms, lab support rooms, seminar rooms and classrooms on the main GMIT Campus.
The largest of all the projects at 12,800 sqm will involve the construction of new Engineering, Computing and General Teaching Building at WIT’s Cork Road Campus. It will provide for the consolidation of a number of faculties in one space and generate efficiencies in that respect.
The project in Institute of Technology Carlow provides additional space for STEM provision, in particular science.
The construction of a Library and General Education Building linked to the main building at Letterkenny Institute of Technology will accommodate a learning resource centre, IT and innovation laboratories, online learning delivery rooms and classrooms.
This project provides for the construction of a new Applied Science & IT building on the LIT Moylish campus. The building will accommodate science labs, various teaching facilities, computer labs, tutorial rooms, breakout and meeting spaces.
